Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

 

The Student Management Office is looking for a number of students to work as Graduation Assistants at the Award Ceremonies. The ceremonies will take place at The Midland Hotel and The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, between Tuesday 14 July - Friday 24 July 2026. 

You will need to be to commit to one week of work on the following dates: 

Tuesday 14 July – Friday 17 July 2026 

Monday 20 July – Friday 24 July 2026

 Successful candidates will be working as Graduation Assistants based at The Midland Hotel or The Bridgewater Hall. Duties will include:

  • Greeting students and their families and directing them to registration, robing and photography and seats in the auditorium. 
  • Helping to manage queues. 
  • Provide cover for the registration & information desks. 
  • Guidance to off-site screening facilities or gowning facilities. 
  • Other duties as required.
 Selected students will gain confidence in working events, ensuring the smooth functioning of their areas, and will gain experience in customer service and handling enquiries. 
 

Students must commit to 1 full week of Graduation shifts, totalling a possible 45 hours for the week. 

Working hours are as follows (please note the finish times are approximate as this may vary by ceremony size and running time): 7:45am - 5:30pm*. 
  
*Approximate latest finish time. May be earlier depending on role that day. Breaks will be around the ceremony start times and food and refreshments will be provided.  

Other Requirements: This is a formal role; please wear smart black trousers and comfortable shoes as you will be on your feet all day. A t-shirt will be provided for the duration of the role.

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 
 
    • A current Undergraduate Student at Manchester Met
    • Ability to work under pressure
    • Ability to work as part of a team
    • Good customer service skills, with friendly approach
    • Available to work at least one full week of ceremonies 
    • Available for full days
